I didn't THINK that until this past week.  But, the good thing about being so crazy busy makes where
I am about to go even more special!

YES!!  I am going on vacation.  And, not just ANY vacation.  My husband {T Rose}& I are celebrating
5 amazing years of marriage on June 11th.  When we got married we moved straight to Dallas so no

It's time to relax, re-focus and re-energize!  So, I am signing off!!

I will be back checking emails June 13th!  I am actually back to work on that day...yeah, I know.  But, it's
a maternity shoot and you know how I feel about my momma's to be! :)

happy mother's day

Can't believe this will be by 4th Mother's Day!  I look back on my life before becoming a mom and it just
doesn't seem real.  I took things for granted, the small stuff always bothered me, plain and simple...I was
selfish and immature.  Yes, I admit it.

Now, I am a mom to the two most precious boys any person could ask for.  Is being a mom the hardest
"job" I have ever had.  Yes.  Why?  Because, I am responsible for raising these boys.  I am responsible
for how they treat others, how they react to situations, how they approach life, how they live their life,
and how they love.  I want them to respect others no matter what, I want them to take every situation
and learn from it, I want them to go through life with an open mind and a drive to always be
better, I want them to jump head first into their dreams and make them all come true and I want them to
love like they have never been hurt.  How will they "learn" to do these things?  With the way their dad & I
live our lives.  It's a choice everyday to wake up and live our lives this way.  We want to be the example
for Tyler & Colton.  It's easy to tell someone you Love them, but to show them that love every single day,
with every single step is incredible.

I love my boys more than I could ever express.  I have said this over and over again, but I do not know
what I did to deserve the three blessings that I now call family.  But, I do know that I will never not for
one second take them for granted. I will always strive to be better, do better, live better.  Because
that is what they deserve.

Dear Boys -- I am so thankful that HE chose you to be my baby boys.  The most amazing gift I will ever
receive.  I love you more than you will ever know.  Thank you for making me laugh when no one
else can.  And, for opening my heart like no one else could.  I.Love.You.So.Much, mommy

Happy Mother's Day!!

eye candy

So, yesterday I get a call from T Rose {my hubby} asking if I could come by his office and take
some promotional shots for a customer.  My first question was...."who & what will I be photographing?"
his answer ...."well, a workwear type shot..including wrangler jeans...and the model...well, is me!".

Everyone and their momma knows how in.love.like.crazy I am with this man, so to be able to take shots
of him looking mighty fine was well, pretty freaking ridiculous.  I loved it!

So, ladies...I am sharing my "eye candy" with you today.  But, only for today.  Go grab a Coke and Smile.

And, gentlemen....go pick you up some Wranglers.  The ladies will LOOOOOOVE it.

Happy Friday!

hipstamatic WHAT??

so, I know I am a little late on the bandwagon when it comes to the iphone + hipstamatic application...
BUT SO WHAT.....it's unbelievably awesome.  I have been known to bring my big daddy camera
everywhere I go...yes, everywhere!... because you just never know when a moment needs to be captured.

anyway....now I have a new obsession.  yes, it involves my new phone {her name is darby btw} and all
the cool applications you can buy.  right now...hipstamatic is numero uno in my book.  so, big daddy camera
gets to stay home safe and out of harms way while the boys & I venture out around town.  it's really super
good times!!

anyway, i have had "darby" since Sunday afternoon.  so, these are my favorite shots so far.  i am sure it
will now become a weekly blog post of my weekly fav's.

anyone interested in a session taken just by the hipstamatic application?  {totally kidding...sort of..hee hee}

{in these photos are my cutie pie boys Tyler & Colton and sweet niece Isabella.  Isn't she just a beauty?!}

OH!  and, i must thank sarah b gilliam, eric may, lauren liles + shea halliburton for the obsession.
yes, their daily or weekly facebook posts got me hooked.

tyler's mommy, momma...sometimes just {MOM}

So, my 3 year old sweet boy Tyler Drake has recently used the phrase "okay, MOM" when answering
me.  Seriously!  Seriously.  This child is not a child...he's a toddler.  I told him he's not allowed to call me
"mom" or his daddy "dad" until he's atleast 15 years old!  Yes, I am totally serious about this folks.

What happened to my baby boy, born under 7 lbs in Plano, Texas??.....He is now 33 lbs and calling me
"MOM".  And, t rose wonders why I get baby fever.??!!  LOL

So, yes...still waiting on the UPS man to deliver me my pause button so I can freeze moments like these
below and gasp.  My baby is now....a {big boy}. <---- in his eyes atleast.  TO ME...he will always be
my baby boy.

Need YOUR help & Vote PLEASE!!!!

So, my dear friend, will turn 30 together this year, photography is our passion, family is our life, almost have the
same brain, also named SARA {but she has an "h" at the end of her name}...I really could go on
.....soul sister Sarah B Gilliam posted a contest last week for ANYONE to enter for a Day in the Life.

So, what does a "Day in the Life" with Sarah B Gilliam mean??  To me, it means a day with one
amazing photographer who will spend the day with our family capturing LIFE.  Real Life.  Capturing
what our family does in a typical day.  How amazing?  I thought at first it wasn't okay for me to enter
because I am a photographer, but then I thought WHY NOT?  I would love to have a story teller like
her capture our life in one day. I can tell my boys how we lived, how we loved, but how awesome to
SHOW them in black & white...OR ...color.

So, this is where YOU come into play.  I would appreciate it SO very much if you would head over to
Sarah B Gilliam's blog and VOTE for "SARA".  {you MUST leave your name, because anonymous
votes will NOT count!!} Honestly, I would be forever grateful!  And, really....look at the image
below HOW much fun would we have together??

{image of the 2 sara-h's being us}.  love you sb!

and if these cute faces don't encourage you to vote I am not sure what will!!
And, HAPPY ST PATRICK'S DAY!!  Did you wear YOUR green today?  My boys did....:)

The Best Love Note YET

Late lastnight my husband was browsing around facebook while I was asleep on the couch and he
comes over to me and says..."babe, something special you will want to read".  I looked up at him like "really"?
But, he was right.  THE sweetest most sincere "love note" {aka comments about my photographs}
I have ever received and it came from Madden's dad, Kevin.

Subject::  Pictures that tell a story

Our absolutely precious, amazing, sweet little boy just turned ONE year old, 3 weeks ago. On Saturday, we had a very talented
and wonderful friend of ours take his 1 year old pictures. The weather was absolutely beautiful (57 and Sunny), making for the most
superb setting. The links below will tell the rest of the story. The after-story, is one I've yet to be able to completely absorb or digest.
Upon receiving a link to view the pictures yesterday, our smiles could not be hidden. For the next 4-5 minutes while viewing the results,
our smiles somehow managed to squeeze our eyeballs to the point where they leaked uncontrollably. We were overtaken by the story
that these pictures share and how blessed we are to be a part of this story. A story of dependence, a story of trust, a story of innocence,
a story of intrigue, a story of love, joy and happiness. This is a story that will never grow old, but rather one we will grow old with.
We thank Sara for capturing this story with us!

Now.  THIS is why I absolutely, without a doubt in mind am doing what I am supposed to be doing.

The Life I have imagined

Go Confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you've imagined. --henry david thoreau

I love that quote.  Truly believe in it and want to LIVE by those words everyday for the rest
of my life.  So, what are my dreams?  To be the kind of wife & partner to my husband that he
deserves.  The kind of mom who truly, unconditionally LOVES her children and gives them
that love with her presence, not presents.  The kind of friend who knows when to pick up
the phone and call or send that message that could brighten someones day just when they need
it most.  The kind of person who says hi to a stranger with a smile and means it.  And, the kind
of photographer who tells a story.  Not the photographer who just hits the shutter to take a photo.

I have these dreams and 90% of the time I live the life I have imagined.  Because all are a choice
that I have promised myself to make each day.  Each day is a test.  Some days I fail miserably and
some days I am thankful for my strength and determination.

I have this drive to WANT to take amazing photos.  And, as I look back at recent work I walk
away {happy}, but I want to walk away {amazed}.  I don't want to give my clients something
that someone else could do.  I want to give them something that has {sara rose} written
all over it.  Something special, something wonderful, something timeless.  So, starting today
I hope you see a change in my work.  This is all a learning process and I hope it continues to
be one for the rest of my life.  I want to be better.  Do better.  I want to live my life as one
kick butt photographer because that is what I have IMAGINED.

Today is a new day.  Make YOUR dreams come true.

bubba made me do it

Oh, the joys of having boys...and the joys of having 1 who is 3 years old and the other 2 years old.
I am not joking...there are A LOT of joys, but let's get real people...there are a lot of ..well, {moments}
too.  And, I am sure not the first to say that age 2 is a whole lot harder than 3...well, so far for me
atleast.

So, meet my just turned 2 year old wild man, will pay me back for any wrong I did, will
break sweet girls hearts with those baby blues, likes to blame "BUBBA" for everything sweet boy.

Yes, I captured his "but, I don't know momma...bubba did it" look.  Priceless, sweet, gets me
everytime LOOK.  {shame on me}

a look for the books.

boys are getting older part II

So, we had a great weekend...for many reasons....!!  Boys birthday was a success.  I don't have to
say too much about the event because you can just scroll down and SEE the fun!

But, it was my first WEEKEND off from photographing other precious families, so it was a wonderful
weekend spent with MY family enjoying the simple things.  Sometime when you get so busy you forget
what driving around chatting about life with your husband is like.  Gosh, I needed this weekend.

If you didn't already know it I adore my family.  And, if it wasn't for the 3 beautiful guys in my life
{hubby, tyler & colton} I WOULD NOT be who I am today.

....Counting my blessings ....

But, on a srp update....my life is about to get crazy.  I was thinking there might be a Saturday available to
offer another mini session for Spring, but I am BOOKED.  crazy.  but, wonderful!  So, if you are
interested in a Spring session with srp please get over to my website and calendar asap!  Don't
want to miss out on beautiful Spring photos!!!

the little things

I made a promise to myself and my family that one of my main goals in 2010 was to capture my boys
lives like never before.  Not just when it was necessary {birthdays, holidays, special events} but in the
middle of the week when it was for no other reason but, "just because".  Today was one of those days.

Last week was a big week for us as you can read about here and here.  So, this week should be a bit more
relaxed, RIGHT??  Well, not so much.  See....we have the boys birthday party this weekend.  And,
although I don't go over the top there is SO much that has to be done.  {i.e. cake, their shirts {yes, if
you didn't already know...I sew} and making sure I am aware of who all is coming.  On top of all that
I am still a mom, a wife, a photographer, a designer and a homemaker.....I could keep GOING.

So, I took 15 minutes today to let the boys be silly in the bathroom sink.  Making silly faces.  They had
a ball.  And, although these images will win no prize in the technical world or whatever of photography
they win TOP prize in my heart.

“While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about.” {SO TRUE}

ch...ch..ch.changes part II

Day 5!  We made it.  And, what a beautiful day to end such a crazy week!  We hit the not so

{wonderful} hump Wednesday.  But, yesterday was amazing and today has been even better.
Potty training has been a success!!  TD was definitely ready.  And, both boys being in the same
room has sorta-worked out.  Still an adjustment for big & lil bro.  {and for mom & dad}

So, here we are today.  The sun is SHINING, the weather is just right and it's Friday.
What could be better than that?

I will be photographing a precious 3 month old princess, celebrating a dear friends sons
1st birthday and then seeing an old friend from high school who is expecting her 3rd blessing!
What a great weekend ahead.  Hope it's wonderful for all of you! {XO}

ch...ch..ch.changes

Big Big week in the Rose household.  Official potty training has begun and we moved both boys
into the same room.  WHY?  you ask....well, T & C are 14.5 months apart.  Practically twins.  And,
one won't go to sleep without the other soooo I thought it would be a grand idea to just "DO IT".

So, here we are day 3 and potty training has been successful.  Nights have been so-so, but we are getting
there.

These photos were taken this past weekend at my in laws.  It was my first day OFF from photography since
the New Year so we went to the one place I heart so much...the farm.  And, the boys...well, they acted
like we took them to disneyland!

Life is just going by so fast.  My baby Colton will be 2 in less than 2 weeks and it is soooo hard to believe.

So, my request to all for today is to get your camera out and take pictures of your kiddos just being kiddos.
Don't pose them...just get them at their {happiest} moment...whether it's while eating frosted flakes in the
morning, or while watching yo gabba gabba...or when your husband is sitting back reading them a bed time
story.  These are the moments we love to see but hardly ever {capture} so we may cherish forever.
So, just {DO IT}.  Regardless of how busy you are.  Then PRINT the photo.  Put it in a frame for your
desk at work or put it on your fridge if you stay home.  So, when that moment comes and you feel
overwhelmed LOOK at that photograph and I promise a big SMILE will come across your face.

{photography 101}

I could write a book about what wed 2.10.2010 meant to me, but I will just say that it was another
great day with some AH-mazing photographers who I now can all call my friends.

The fabulous and extremely talented Sarah B. Gilliam sent out an email a few weeks back to about
half a dozen or so photographers asking if we would be interested in getting together for an entire day just
for fun to shoot??  ABSOLUTELY.  And, it was everything and beyond I imagined it would be.

We met at the most amazing venue downtown Nashville.  If you are needing a cool place to have any
kind of party, reception, etc...check out the aVenue on 3rd.  Thank you for letting us all use the awesome
space for the day!!

See sarah's blog here to see some of the behind the scenes action!

We were blessed with some of the most beautiful models, an aspiring fashion designer, a blue grass musician,
beautiful wedding gowns, some amazing props....{seriously, I could go ON}.  But, to be surrounded
by some unbelievable photographers made Wednesday one of the best days of my life.

I am sure you have heard of all these wonderful artists...but, if you haven't CHECK them out!

{snowflakes} | nashville tennessee photographer

I was in a class a few weeks back that my boys school held about the importance of reading
to our kiddos.  What it does to their mind, your relationship with them..
I could go on and on about the PROS of it.  During the class the teacher showed us this one book that
definitely caught my interest.  It was about a man who spent his entire life photographing snowflakes
then putting them under the microscope to see all of their different shapes.

How wonderful & amazing.  His name was Wilson "Snowflake" Bentley.

"Under the microscope, I found that snowflakes were miracles of beauty; and it
seemed a shame that this beauty should not be seen and appreciated by others.
Every crystal was a masterpiece of design and no one design was ever repeated.,
When a snowflake melted, that design was forever lost. Just that much beauty was
gone, without leaving any record behind."

Perfect example of how important it is to {leave a record of a moment, of something and
even someone in time} with photography.
